Granite Staters Reaching Out to Women (GROW) is a newly formed political action committee empowering women to run for local and state office in New Hampshire. The challenges of developing a brand identity for a PAC was exciting and led me to develop a logo that brings together elements that honor women and celebrates our history while anticipating the future. Two shades of blue evoke liberal ideals, but also convey trust, dignitiy, intelligence, and authority while a bright orange brings energy and fire to the color palette. Futura felt like an obvious choice for type—it's rooted in the early modern period during the time when Women's Suffrage was gaining traction. The geometric letter forms also hint at the inclusiveness of GROW's mission. For the overall composition, I chose to steer clear of obvious feminine and gender specific aesthetics. To emphasize the most important part of GROW's mission, I placed the invisible shape of NH in the W, thus turning it into it's own standalone mark.
